  Recent say was disappointing. Whilst the room was large and overlooked the main street, it was very poorly maintained and the bare light bulb in the bathroom was a little concerning but the most annoying was a tired mattress full of springs. We only ate in the hotel once, that was enough to be honest, well below average with the curious addition of lettuce on the top of a risotto, they must have had a bit left over. Also, at check out the manager presented a bill that took no account of the mandatory 50% deposit we paid when booking (we booked direct with the hotel not an agency booking) !!! I don't like it when a hotel shows such little regard to presenting a final account, it always seems to be in their favour somehow.

  Went to lots of dog-friendly pubs on Isle of Wight that were clean and cosy but this one, we didn't feel was up to scratch with their cleanliness. It was clearly because of the wear and tear from dogs being allowed all over the furniture and that made it grotty and too dirty for us to want to stay there. The drinks selection wasn't very good either so we left a review on TripAdvisor and got a very rude and angry reply from the management. This was in the summer of 2016, so it may be cleaner now, but I've only just seen the reply. I think it was very unprofessional and it makes you wonder how they would treat a customer in person if they complained about something. I felt that that kind of attitude from management shouldn't go unnoticed so I wouldn't recommend or trust this pub.
